Dr. Bittner received a Bachelor of Science degree , majoring in Natural Science and Mathematics, from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Following graduation from Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he returned to Somerset County and began a private practice in Family Dentistry. In 1993, Dr. Bittner accepted a commission in the United States Navy, serving at the Norfolk Naval Base Dental Clinic, as Dental Officer and Department Head aboard the USS WASP, LHD-l and at the Naval Air Station Oceana Dental Clinic. While serving as a dental officer in the Navy, he has received advanced training in Endodontics as well as Oral Surgery. While deployed in the Mediterranean and Adriatic Seas, as Dental Officer aboard the USS WASP, Dr. Bittner has directed humanitarian mission in Tirana, Albania, providing much needed dental care to the under privileged children of that region. Dr. Bittner is licensed as a general dentist in the states of Virginia and Pennsylvania. Having special interest in Orthodontics, he has completed numerous advanced classes and residencies in Functional Orthopedics, Tip-Edge and Straight Wire Orthodontics, and Invisalign. His professional memberships have included the International Association of Orthodontist, as well as the America Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and the Tidewater Dental Association. Practicing dentistry for the pasts twelve years in Virginia Beach, and participating with the Smiles for Children program has allowed Dr. Bittner to positively impact the lives of many individuals. His greatest satisfaction is in observing how the dental care he has provided, has helped to improve his patient's self-confidence, as well as developing positive personalities.
